From 1 July 2025 Australia will see a number of changes occur across the state.
Here’s what you need to know.
1. National Wage
The minimum wage is increasing by 3.5% in Australia today.
The Fair Work Commission has set the new national minimum wage at $948 per week or $24.95 per hour. This increase applies from the first full pay period starting on or after July 1.
Award minimum wages will also rise by 3.5%.
2. Superannuation
The superannuation guarantee rate will increase to 12%. The new percentage will be applied to all salary and wages paid to eligible workers on or after 1 July 2025, meaning employers must now pay at least 12% of an eligible employee’s earnings into their super.
3. Paid Parental Leave
From 1 July, Services Australia will lift the number of paid Parental Leave days, increasing them from 110 to 120 days for children born on or after that date. This also applies to adoptive parents.
Parents can now submit a claim up to three months before the expected date the child will come into their care.
